Word Club

Word Club

The English language is weird.  Spelling is a challenge.  So many rules, exceptions to rules, exceptions to the exceptions to the rules. However, English can be beautiful.  Words are complex.  Even though we use them every day we never stop to think about them.  Join Ashtabula’s Literacy Ambassadors in Word Club as we dive into the world of words.

This is a collaborative effort between ACESC & ACDL.

County-wide Club purpose: To promote the love of words, learn vocabulary, practice spelling, and other language literacy. To connect students and families across the County and school systems. To form friendships and mentorships. To practice together. The Spelling Bee’s “purpose is to help students improve their spelling, increase their vocabularies, learn concepts and develop correct English usage that will help them all their lives.” Participation in the National Spelling Bee includes vocabulary, so Ashtabula County’s plan is to include vocabulary as an exciting addition to the Spelling Bee process.
